Welcome to Wild Thing

Home of the magical Ocicat

The Ocicat is a remarkable breed that brings the best of striking wild looks, playful athleticism and a charming pure pedigree temperament to you in one loving, intelligent household pet.

Ocicats (pronounced Ossi-cat) are relatively new to Australia and still rare. We believe the more people encounter these wonderful cats the faster they will become a leading choice for pet owners everywhere. Don't take our word on it, consider coming to meet our cats and be won over by their charm and good loooks in person.

Where the Wild Things Are

Wild by name but not by nature, Ocicats are one of the few spotted breeds containing no wild blood. They derive their wonderful spots from the underlying genetic riches of two of the oldest purebred bloodlines in the world, the Abyssinian in Egypt as depicted in hieroglyphs on pyramids and the Siamese, bred for centuries as Temple cats in Thailand. The mixing of these two ancient pure breeds produced a combination throwing back to the oldest ancestor of modern domestic felines, the Indian Fishing Cat - a spotted cat.

Ocicats are intelligent, very energetic, and have huge personalities - they are often described as dogs in cats bodies. With the right owner they are intensely loyal and loving without being dependant or clingy, however be prepared for your ocicat to demand to be a part of whatever you are doing and not to take no for an answer!

Many ocicats will fetch and walk on leads, are facinated by water, and know what you're going to do next and will be there waiting for pats before you arrive ... this may be a big surprise for those used to passive, quiet cats.

Their playful and fearless natures make them good companions for children and they usually integrate well with dogs and other family pets. Most ocicat breeders bring their kittens up around dogs so they view canines as playmates from early on in their development.

Consider adding an Ocicat to your family today - you won't be disappointed!
